Appointments as Chairperson and Ordinary Member to the Board of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC)

The Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions of Chairperson and Ordinary Member to the Board of the Workplace Relations Commission.

Chairperson :

Candidates wishing to apply must demonstrate in their application evidence of experience at the appropriately senior level in all of the following:

Essential:

• Demonstrate the ability to be open-minded strategic thinkers, able to bring their own experience to bear on issues under discussion.

• Demonstrate commitment to an evidence-based approach, and the capacity to appreciate the implications of complex and multi-faceted evidence.

• Demonstrate the ability to make important and difficult objective decisions within fixed timeframes, whilst maintaining independence of mind.

• Demonstrate the ability to challenge constructively the opinions of others, work to achieve a shared consensus and accept collective responsibility.

• Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and be able to express themselves clearly and succinctly; and

• Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and have a proven track record of collaborative working.

Desirable:

•  Experience in dispute resolution in the employment rights industrial relations fields. 

Ordinary Member:

The vacancy arising is for a person that represents the interests of employees as set out in Schedule 3 section 3(a) of the Workplace Relations Act 2015. 

Essential

Candidates must demonstrate in their application evidence of experience at an appropriately senior level in the following areas: -

(a) The Member representative of the interests of employees: 

• experience which demonstrates a deep understanding of the interests of workers 

and

• experience of working on behalf of workers’ interests or representing workers.
