Procedure:

In accordance with Section 25 of the Equal Status Act, 2000, following the referral of the complaint to me by the Director General, I inquired into the complaint and gave the parties an opportunity to be heard by me and to present to me any evidence relevant to the complaint.

Background:

This case is one of two linked cases (ADJ-00063633 and ADJ-00063579) wherein the Complainant and her husband were interested in viewing a rental property and were informed that no HAP (Housing Assistance Payment) was accepted. The correspondence was between the Respondent and the Complainant’s husband.

It was submitted that this was in breach of the Equal Status Act 2000, as amended.

The Complainant did not attend the hearing and was not represented.

The Respondent did not attend the hearing and was not represented.

Findings and Conclusions:

The complaint was received by the Director General of the Workplace Relations commission on 17th October 2025, wherein the Complainant alleged that the Respondent contravened the provisions of the Equal Status Act 2000 (as amended) in relation to her, with respect to Housing Assistance Payment (HAP).

The complaint was assigned the following complaint application number: CA-00077598-001.

The said complaint was referred to me for investigation.

A hearing for that purpose was arranged for 16th April 2026.

Neither party to the action attended the hearing.

Decision:

Section 25 of the Equal Status Acts, 2000 – 2015 requires that I make a decision in relation to the complaint in accordance with the relevant redress provisions under section 27 of that Act.
