Workplace Relations Commission Adjudication Officer: Catherine Byrne
Date of Hearing: 27/06/2025
Procedure:
In accordance with section 13 of the Industrial Relations Act 1969 (as amended), these disputes were assigned to me for investigation by the Director General. A hearing was arranged for Friday, June 27th 2025 at 11.00am. By 11.30am, neither the worker or the employer had arrived for the hearing and neither party contacted the WRC in advance to explain the reason for their non-attendance.
The documents on the case file include copies of letters dated May 14th 2025 which were sent to the parties to notify them of the date and time of the hearing on June 27th. I am satisfied therefore, that the parties had five weeks’ notice of the hearing and, in the absence of any explanation for not attending, I have reached the conclusion below.
Recommendation:
Section 13 of the Industrial Relations Act 1969 requires that I make a recommendation in relation to the dispute.
In the circumstances in which the worker and the employer did not attend the hearing, I recommend that the parties take no further action regarding the matter in dispute. |
