Procedure:
The hearing of this matter was arranged to take place on Friday 29th September 2017 at 9.00am in the offices of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), Lansdowne House, Lansdowne Road, Dublin 4. Both the complainant and the respondent failed to arrive for the hearing.
Correspondence was issued to both parties some six weeks in advance of the hearing outlining the date, venue and time of the hearing. Unsuccessful attempts were made to contact the complainant by telephone. Telephone contact was made with the respondent who informed that the complaint had been settled and they were of the understanding that the complainant was going to withdraw the complaint.
In accordance with Section 41 of the Workplace Relations Act, following the referral of the complaint(s) to me by the Director General, I inquired into the complaint(s) and gave the parties an opportunity to be heard by me and to present to me any evidence relevant to the complaint(s)/dispute(s).
Background:
Two complaints were made under the Payment of Wages Act, 1991. The first alleged non-payment of wages and the second alleged unlawful deductions from wages. |
