1. Appeal under Section 83 of the Employment Equality Acts, 1998 to 2011.
BACKGROUND:
2. The Employer appealed the Decision of the Equality Officer to the Labour Court on the 8th January, 2014. A Labour Court hearing took place on the 7th May, 2014. The following is the Court's Determination:-
DETERMINATION:
This matter came before the Court by way of an appeal by the Irish Prison Service against a Decision of the Equality Tribunal bearing file reference number EE/2011/346. The Decision relates to Ms Madden's claims of discrimination on grounds of gender contrary to the Employment Equality Acts 1998-2011.
When the matter came on for hearing on 7th May 2014 the Court was informed that the parties had reached agreement and that the appeal and the cross appeal could be struck out. The terms of the agreement reached provided that the Decision of the Equality Tribunal could be varied in terms of the agreement, the terms of which were disclosed to the Court.
The within appeals are struck out and the Decision of the Equality Tribunal to which they relate is varied by consent in the terms of the agreement reached between the parties.
