Working Hours and Breaks

The following limits apply to the hours that can be worked by young persons under 18 years of age –

 Under 16s16 & 17 years old

Night Work - with school the next morningUp to 8.00 p.m.Up to 10.00 p.m.
Night Work - with no school next morning (e.g. holidays, weekends)Up to 8.00 p.m.Up to 11.00 p.m **. (and not before 7.00 a.m. next morning)
** Note – work beyond 10.00 pm requires Ministerial approval by regulation. Specific regulations have been made for Licensed Premises – contact Workplace Relations Customer Service (1890 80 80 90) for further details.
