The dispute concerns a claim by Dr Anne O'Dowd that in May, 1999, the National Museum of Ireland and the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands discriminated against her within the meaning of Section 2(a) and (c) of the Employment Equality Act, 1977 and in contravention of Section 3 of that Act when she was not appointed to the position of Manager / Keeper at the museum.
