This dispute concerns a claim by Ms. Fiona O'Hanlon that the Educational Building Society discriminated against her on grounds of gender and marital status within the meaning of section 6 of the Employment Equality Act, 1998 , and in contravention of section 8(1)(d) of that Act, when it failed to promote her to the position of Assistant Manager in the Marketing Department following an internal competition for the vacant post in January, 2000.
